OTR Community Day gives back to those who give back

The OTR SuperSprint, which is in its second year at The Bend Motorsport Park, is excited to announce the launch of the inaugural OTR Community Day on the first day of racing at the Supercars event, Friday 23 August 2019.

OTR are giving the local community an opportunity to attend The Bend Motorsport Park, to see and experience a world class sporting event. The OTR Community Day aims to provide access to more members of the community so they can have the chance to experience the buzz of high-speed, high-octane Supercars. Over 200 FREE tickets will be allocated to nearby regional school students, emergency services and volunteers who register their interest.

Managing Director at The Bend, Dr Sam Shahin, said, “We are encouraging local schools, community groups, and sporting clubs in the Murray Mallee region and Adelaide Hills areas to register their interest to attend the opening day of the OTR SuperSprint.”

Last year’s inaugural Supercars race saw 41,250 motorsport fans attend the race from all corners of the country, with over 1.25 million viewers tuning in from around the world to watch the race.

“We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from the drivers, teams and fans who had a great time, and now we want even more people in the community the chance to experience the same excitement of the OTR SuperSprint.”

The event schedule will be released shortly with fans promised a range of motorsport categories from Historic Touring Cars to Porsche’s supporting the Supercars main event, as well as extra activities and entertainment at the karting circuit, aerial displays with Red Bull Racer Matt Hall, Friday night drifting display, and all day entertainment at the paddock main stage.

Head of Community Partnerships at OTR, Joann Skene, said “We invite locals to nominate organisations and associations who give back to their communities and are deserving of a fun day out, courtesy of OTR. Groups can also register themselves, so come and see what the excitement in your own backyard is all about!”.
