South Australia’s retail sector continues to be one of the state’s largest job creators.

Leading SA retailer and the state’s largest local employer, On The Run (OTR), is growing its workforce with regional employment opportunities in its sights.

Up to 200 new jobs are being created through OTR’s ambitious growth plans for South Australia, which has included a range of new sites at Aldinga, Murray Bridge, Ceduna as well as metropolitan Adelaide.

“We are an innovative and dynamic family business that is proud to be generating jobs and investing in the future of South Australia,” OTR Chief Operating Officer Michaela Webster said.

OTR, which employs more than 2000 local workers, has begun the recruitment for 200 retail roles in Hungry Jacks, Subway and Oporto, aiming to fill the positions within the next six months.

“We are also looking for two new Area Managers for our Hungry Jacks food businesses,” Ms Webster said.

“At OTR we believe that businesses have a duty to provide career opportunities for people from all walks of life, from first-time job seekers to older South Australians and everything in between.

“As we grow our presence across the state, we are creating job and training opportunities for local people. As well as generating jobs within the business, our growth plans will directly benefit the local suppliers we work with to build and service the new sites.

“Businesses are under pressure, but it’s important for local operators to maintain a long term view and invest confidently. Our state will always be a great place to live and work.”

OTR now has 125 stores across SA, with a $50 million investment planned for 20 more stores and major redevelopments over the coming two to three years.

Ms Webster said OTR’s success was testament to its local workforce.

“Our team are the face of our business, processing over 40 million transactions at OTR outlets each year. By recruiting employees with the right attitude and providing them with full training for their role, not only do we build career paths but we also ensure our customers always deal with great people.”
